Q1 Mise-en-Scene

Mise-en-scene:
I feel that we have got the mise-en-scene of our music video correct starting with the outfits of our actors we went for the scruffy, smart casual and beach look this was to blend in with the different locations that where used. With locations we found that lighting was key and apart from the different parts that where done in a studio we only had natural lighting. Which meant the framing and composition of the shot had to be looked at when on set to make sure we had the sun in our eyes to light us well and reduce glare on the camera. We knew this from examples that we had looked at from other bands such as muse who did a video with clever lighting and we felt that because of it gave everything a professional look.

Image on the left is from our video image on the right is the muse video and how we tried to get our lighting to top standard to give our selves a quality performance.

Mise-en-scene (Actors)
Actors where key for the bands appearance. When choosing the bad members we knew that we needed fresh young faces and these people would either need to be in there teens to 21 this is due to the singers in the actual band being around this age gap and you can hear that from their voices. This is also key because it plays on the conventions as you will normally find that most indie bands that are created are young and don’t have much money so they practice within their parents basements with this black and white look always just getting by  whatever they do however always coming back to the music.

Example of the type of band member we would be looked for for our music promo.
